LANSING, Mich. – The concept of Lansing’s annual Be A Tourist In Your Own Town event is a fun one. Why travel outside of Lansing when you can enjoy some aspects of the town you’ve never seen before on your time off? Each year, the event gives residents a new look at their city and shows them some special things Lansing has to offer.

Unfortunately, Lansing’s annual Be A Tourist In Your Own Town has been canceled for 2022, the event announced on its official Facebook page in a recent post.

In place of the event, organizers are asking residents to take part in the Love Lansing Like A Local campaign and help local businesses during this difficult time.

“We are sorry to say that we will not be having Be A Tourist In Your Own Town in 2022. We understand how disappointing this is to you. We’re disappointed, too,” they stated on Facebook. “We will be launching our ‘Love Lansing Like A Local’ campaign again this summer, encouraging all our Lansing area residents to get out and support all our local attractions and recreational places. Look for our promotions, ads and media outreach. Our tourism partners need our/your help and we know that you will make the summer of 2022 a local success by being a tourist (on your own) in Greater Lansing.”

Be A Tourist In Your Own Town was called off in 2020 due to COVID-19.
