New York and Las Vegas Are the Best Cities for New Year’s, According to WalletHub

The year is coming to an end, and if you’re looking for the best spot to ring in 2022, WalletHub has done the legwork for you.

Of course, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and rising omicron variant, which is quickly making its way through the U.S., some people might decide to stay safe and stay home. But, for those looking to hit the town, the cities offering the most fun are New York City and Las Vegas, Nevada, according to WalletHub.

WalletHub compared the 100 biggest cities in the U.S. based on 28 “key indicators of an epic New Year’s Eve celebration,” according to the publication. “Our data set ranges from legality of fireworks to average price of a New Year’s Eve party ticket to forecasted precipitation for Dec. 31.”

The aforementioned New York City and Las Vegas are in top, followed by Orlando, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; and Miami, Florida. The city with the cheapest New Year’s Eve ticket is Bakersfield, California, while the most expensive ticket is a tie between Miami, Florida; Cleveland, Ohio; and New Orleans, Louisiana. The cheapest glass of wine in the U.S. is found in Indianapolis, Indiana, while the highest is in Atlanta, Georgia.

Not that New York City has implemented new health and safety protocols for this year’s New Year’s Eve festivities in Times Square. Usually, the event attracts 58,000 to Times Square to watch the ball drop. This year, the event in New York City will be limited to 15,000 people and protocols such as vaccination requirements and masking will be in place.
