I know winter is not nearly over, but I’m already sick of it. Granted, in Michigan, it hasn’t been the worst winter. In fact, it hasn’t felt much like winter at all, between rain showers and mild days. But, I’m still ready for spring and sunshine.

If you’re ready for spring, one sure sign is that Bell’s Oberon has announced details for its 2023 release. It doesn’t get much more spring-like than getting news on the delightful summertime drink.

Bell’s annual Oberon Day is officially set for Monday, March 20. The favorite summertime wheat ale will be released that day, plus across Michigan with midnight tappings.

For those who make the trek out Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo will get to enjoy Oberon-themed food, games and live entertainment at the Eccentric CafĂ©. The theme for 2023 is Camp Oberon. The event will be free, but remember that you must be 21 and older to attend.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued a proclamation in 2022 declaring an official Michigan “Oberon Day” each year to honor the seasonal launch. So, now, Michigan is one of the only states with an official day dedicated to beer. That makes sense, since Grand Rapids, Michigan, is often considered one of the best cities for beer in the Midwest.
