People love beer, and there’s even a National Beer Day, which falls this Friday (April 7). Ahead of the special holiday, GreatLakesStakes.com analyzed some of America’s best states for beer.

The study actually named Michigan the No. 1 beer state in America for beer lovers. For the study, GreatLakesStakes.com utilized three combined data points: BeerAdvocate.com to get the average rating of beers brewed in the state, BrewersAssociation.org to get the amount of breweries per capita (per 100,000 residents) and MakeBeerEasy.com.

They also highlighted some of Michigan’s best brewers: Founders Brewing in Grand Rapids, Kuhnhenn in Warren, Bell’s in Kalamazoo. Dark Horse in Marshall, Transient Artisan in Bridgman, Schramm’s Mead in Ferndale, and Perrin in Comstock Park. Find the full list here.
