With pandemic restrictions easing across the U.S., many independent music venues are reopening or launching. That’s welcome news for music fans, who were forced to go without live entertainment for more as the pandemic ensued.

Now, a new music venue is opening in Chicago. The Salt Shed will bring a unique music venue to Chicago’s Morton Salt complex. The venue is scheduled to open this summer and bring an array of outdoor concerts.

The Salt Shed will be located at 1357 N. Elston Ave. and start hosting concerts in early August. So far, performers include Jason Isbell, Lake Street Dive, Lord Huron, Fleet Foxes, Iron and Wine and Mt. Joy, to name a few.

While all performances for 2022 will be outdoors, The Salt Shed will also introduce an indoor venue in 2023, according to a statement. Tickets for the outdoors shows are scheduled to go on sale to the general public on Friday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. For more information, go here.

According to a statement, The Salt Shed will require all guests, staff and performers to have proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. Concertgoers will also have to show a valid vaccination card to enter an event.
